This image was created with CombineZP.
I tried an extreme case of focus stacking. There's an acorn less than a foot in front of the 100mm macro lens. It's sitting on a wooden chair, and there is a table a few feet behind that. The candles are probably 6 feet from the lens. There was also a railing 20 feet away and trees close to 50 feet away. Those last items were forced out of the frame in the blending process. This is apparently because the effective magnification changes with focus.

Another obvious error is where the tablecloth meets the chair. The artifacts at the edges of the image are normal in this process, and would typically be cropped away.

There's also an image combining two of the more extreme shots.

I'm not complaining about the software here - just noting that extreme cases can cause trouble.
