Description

In winter, the roadsides in the Eastern Cape have beautiful stands of flowering Aloe ferox that make red splashes against the hillsides. This plant, also known as the Cape aloe, is the source of a clear gel that is used in the cosmetic industry. It also has many medicinal uses.
