13 Improved Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley. TOO well known to need any spe- cial description. Every one knows their value for outdoor blooming, but all do not realize that their sprays of fairy bells can be ob- tained in Winter just as easily. We offer strong, imported pips that have been grown especially for Winter blooming. Plant half a dozen pips in a four-inch pot, keep rather cool until well started, then bring to the light and warmth and keep freely supplied with water. You will be surprised at the rapidity of their growth '""d at the size of their lovely, fragrant bells. We can supply the bulbs all winter. Price, 4 cents each; 40 cents per doz. The New Hardy White Spicier Lily. This grand new Spider Lily has the advantag3 ot being perfectly hardy, and when left undis- turbed a few years forms large imposing clumps that are a mass of clustered heads of pure white, tragrant flowers. The flowers have a peculiar and striking beauty, which must be seen to be appreciated. The flowers are borne in large clusters, are of waxy whiteness and unsurpassed fragrance. More beautiful than most of the high-priced Lilies. An extra choice garden flower which we cannot too strongly recommend. Also a fine pot plant. Fine flowering bulbs, 20 cents each. Agapanthus Umbellatus. (Blue Lily of the Nile.) This IS a splendid ornamental plant, bearing large clusters of bright blue flowers on long flower stalks and lasting a long time in bloom. There is no finer plant than this for out-door decoration, planted in large pots or tubs on the lawn, terrace or piazza. It does well in the house or greenhouse in Winter, requiring slight protection. It is a rapid grower, and increases in size and beauty every year; the chief point in Its cultivation is to divide the plant before the pots or tubs become overcrowded with roots. With the ordinary kind of care, it is a plant that will last forever. Price, strong plants, 20 cents. The Gorgeous Scarlet Mexican Lily, SprekeliaFormosissima Any description would be inadequate to give a correct idea of the superb brilliancy of the flowers of this Lily. They are of a dark velvety-scarlet, shading to maroon and having a satiny-white stripe in the center of each petal. In form more graceful than any Lily we know of. They must be seen to get a proper idea of their gorgeous magnificence. Plant the bulbs either in sand and pebbles covered with water, like a Sacred Lily, or in pots filled with good rich soil. If planted in the same manner as the Chinese Sacred Lily, the blooms will appear much sooner, but will not last so long as when planted in earth. Try two or three of these bulbs planted together and a gorgeous display is assured. Price, 15 cents each; two for 25 cents; three for 35 cents. The Beautiful Lemon Lily of SIberlaa (Homerocallis Flava.) One of the most beautiful and desirable Lilies in existence. You plant<!?5:^^§ it once and you have it for all time. Few plants present a more striking " appearance on the lawn or border than a large clump of this clear lemon- colored Lily, which is produced in the greatest profusion, lasting in flower for a long time. It is perfectly hardy, requiring not the slightest protec- tion and no care, after being once started. Price. 20 cents each.
