Text Appearing Before Image:
34 the McGregor brothers co., Springfield, ohio. NEW CARNATIONS Ethel Crocker, A fine Carnation to head the page. We do not hesitate to recommend this as one of the best all round Carnations. The flowers are very large, borne on a stiff and strong stem. Color a pure rich pink. The growth is strong and clean, every shoot a flower producer. Price, 20 cents. The Marquis.
Text Appearing After Image:
Another exceptionally fine pink Carnation. Awarded five first-class certificates and silver cup at Philadelphia, also silver medal from Massachusetts Horticultural Society. The color is a bright, clear, exquisite shade of soft rich pink, possessing no trace of purple or magenta. Fragrant, de- lightful. A strong grower and a free bloomer. Price, 25 cents. MRS. GEORGE BRADT. Mrs. Geo. M. Bradt. Color clear white, heavily edged and striped with bright scarlet, giving it a very bright and cheerful appearance. Flowers enormous and full, with center petals standing erect, giving the bloom a well-rounded form. Habit strong and vigorous, but dwarf enough for side benches. A con- stant bloomer from early to late, and is probably the most striking Carnation of recent introduction. A Grand Com- n ercial Carnation. Its blooms sell at the highest prices in all markets. No variegated Carnation yet introduced can equal the enormous striking blooms produced by this variety. Unquestionably the best of all variegated Carna- tions. Price, 15 cents. C. H. Crane. Without a doubt the best scarlet grown. It was tested by the originator for four years before introduced to the public. Nothing will equal it for large flowers of quality and quan- tity. Color, a flaming scarlet. Growth strong, hardy, broad foliage and makes a well formed plant. Price, 15 cents. OLYMPIA. As the "Olympia" ranked at the battle of Manila so this Carnation ranks among the variegated ones. Color, clear glossy white, very delicately penciled scarlet. A strong grower and a continuous bloomer. Price, 20 cents. Kitty Clover. One of the best yellow Carnations. Color, deep yellow marked with red. A strong grower, a free and continuous bloomer with a good stiff stem. Price, 15 cents. General Maceo. This is a magnificent dark scarlet-maroon Carnation. Flowers are of large size, very full and deeply fringed, deep, brilliant scar- let-maroon—fully as rich and striking as a Meteor Rose. Calyx is perfect—never burst- ing; flowers borne erect on stiff, wiry stems. Price, 15 cents. Painted Lady. The deepest pink Carnation we have to offer. The color is very odd, a deep cerise shading to a solferino. The flowers are large with evenly eerated petals. A fine variety for all purposes. Price, 15 cents. General Gomez. Brilliant cardinal-maroon. Strong, vigor- ous, very healthy habit. Blooms fully as freely as Portia, resembles Scott in habit and seems to have fully as good a constitution as that variety. Flower is full and well fringed and of a very pleasing form, good fragrance. The color is magnificent and as rich and brilliant as the Cardinal flower, without the slightest tendency to turn black; in fact, no crimson Carnation has ever come to our no- tice possessing such a vivid brilliant shade of color. Price, 15 cents. ARGYLE. Color, a lovely shade of carmine pink, or rather pure cerise; flowers 2V2 to 3 inches in diameter, borne on stems 18 inches long; healthy, and free from rust; perfect calyx: early, continuous bloomer. The flower is of exquisite form; promises to prove a leader among pinks. Price, 10 cents. SPECIAL OFFER—The full page of New Carnations $1.50.
