Description

U.S. 5th FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (OCT. 28, 2012) An E-2C Hawkeye assigned to the Bluetails of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121 launches from the flight deck while a EA-6B Prowler assigned to the Patriots of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 140 waits to be directed onto the catapult aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Dwight D. Eisenhower is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. The U.S. Navy is constantly deployed to preserve peace, protect commerce, and deter aggression through forward presence. Join the conversation on social media using #warfighting.
