The IDF Logistics and Technology Branch, which among other duties, oversees food service throughout the army, celebrates the Jewish holiday of Purim with a hamentaschen baking competition. The competition was led by the Chief Logistics Officer, Brig. Gen. Mufid Ghanam, and consisted of seven teams from all IDF units. The hamentaschen were tasted and ranked by the judges: Major Yossi Nidam, Head of the Nutrition Department in the Logistics Branch; Chief Warrant Officer Eli Alfasi, Head of the IDF Chef Training Program; and a contestant from the Israeli reality TV show 'Master Chef', Aviva Pivko. At the end of the competition the judges announced the winning hamentaschen bakers: 1st place: Central Command 2nd place: Logistics and Technology Branch 3rd place: Southern Command Pictured: An IDF soldier posing with a creatively stylized hametash in the shape of an elephant |
