English: Proposed flag of the region of Western Macedonia representing the multicultural population who inhabit the region, with the Macedonian sun symbol.
Red (Ethnic Macedonians) + Blue (ethnic Greeks) = Purple. --- Fun fact - Purple also said to be the colour worn by Macedonian royalty, King Philip II, whose mother Eurydice I of Macedon was from the northern tip of the modern geographical region of Western Macedonia (Ancient Lyncestis to be exact, today covers Florina and Bitola). So I guess this also making this a fitting symbol for the nation kingdom of ancient Macedon! :) |
