Summary
[edit]DescriptionFishing pond - geograph.org.uk - 586302.jpg |
English: Fishing pond. The fishing pond (private club) seen here is the highest of a series of ponds and the first one reached after walking down from the top of the Dumbles. This picture is of the western end of the pond. The National Trust ask the public not to enter the area between the opposite bank and the fence. This is to provide an undisturbed area for wildlife.
The Dumbles is the local name for a small valley. Originally the lakes provided fish to the hall and also ice for the Ice House, which is also in this valley. To see a photograph overlooking the next pond (right, south-westerly), click here 586318. To see a photograph taken by the side of this pond (left, north-easterly), click here 586205. |
