Description
English: Alfred William Finch, Coast cliff, Dover. Oil painting (48 x 59 cm). Private collection.
Suomi: Alfred William Finch, Rantakallio, Dover. Öljymaalaus (48 x 59 cm). Yksityiskokoelma. Kansainvälisesti merkittävän neoimpressionistisen nuoruuden kauden (1886-92) jälkeen Finch keskittyi kokonaan keramiikataiteen uudistamistyöhön art nouveaun hengessä, ensin kotimaassaan Belgiassa ja sitten Louis Sparren aloitteesta Iristehtaalla (1897-1901) Porvoossa. Muutettuaan Helsinkiin hän ryhtyi kymmenen vuoden tauon jälkeen uudelleen maalaamaan ja vaikutti merkittävästi Suomen heräävän väritaiteen tyylilliseen ja väriteoreettiseen orientoitumiseen.
