Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Ferranti ULA2G010J 8428 IC, packaged in a 28 pin ceramic DIP.

Unknown function, but the 2G010 array is one of Ferranti's Digilin devices allowing both digital and linear functions to be implemented with the bipolar (CDI) components.

Ferranti's data sheet lists a total of 384 active components and 696 passive components. These can be configured into 160 logic gates, each dissipating 1.9uW of energy.

The 9x9 matrix of cells is clearly visible within the metal rings.

Around the outside of the metal rings are the peripheral cells and in each corner of the die are special purpose analog components: - Top right: 2x 35pF diffused capacitors - Top left: Bandgap reference source - Bottom right: 2 banks of 18x 5K diffused resistors in separate 12V islands - Bottom left: 2x 100mA transistors

The die is marked in the top left hand corner:

8056-1 ULA2G010 6624-1

The package stamp of 8428 indicated manufacture in mid-1984.

Die size approximately 3mm x 3mm.

Hugin panorama stitched from 35 photos taken using a Vickers M14/2 metallurgical microscope: 10x objective lens with a Kenko 1.5X teleconverter on the camera mount.
