Description
English: (1 in a multiple picture set)

Most small towns did not have clothing or shoe stores. The general store stocked some hats and a small assortment of shoes for both men and women. Can you imagine that people in that day didn't need hundreds of choices? They could be happy with picking out a pair of shoes from a small selection.

Small purchases were paid for in cash. Larger purchaces were 'charged.' We didn't have credit cards then, so the merchant would keep a tab on your family. At the end of the month Dad was expected to stop by and pay his bill.
