| Description |
English: (1 in a multiple picture set) On to another shop! This is the place we called the meat market. Each town had one. The butcher would buy a cow or a pig from a local farmer, kill it and butcher it right in the back room. The meat was never more than a day or two old. My brother and I would walk down the alley behind the meat market, and if we saw them unloading an animal, we would stop to watch as the critter was killed and the meat processed. It was brutal and bloody, just the type of activity we appreciated. |
