Description

Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox baseball club, celebrated its 100th anniversary in April 2012. To mark the occasion, I am taking a tour of the ballpark just a few weeks after the anniversary.

Fellow visitors are busy taking photos. In the distance in the right field bleachers, the Lone Red Seat is visible; it marks the spot where Ted Williams' 502-foot home run landed in 1946. It still remains the longest hit ever at Fenway Park; a Manny Ramirez home run in June 2001 struck a Green Monster lightpole, and therefore couldn't be measured, and it was recorded as a 501-foot home run to preserve Williams' record.
