English: Gold

Posy Ring. Cast band of plano-convex section. The display side bears diagonally nicked borders conferring a cabled effect to the outer edge of the band, an inner border of double incised lines around a circumferential series of sub-rectangular panels, interspersed with three oval panels. An inscription within the band, rendered in tidy serifed Roman capitals reads: + [cross potent] FAYTHEFVLNES.I DO.PROFES

Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1700. In view of the date of this object it is to be submitted to Treasure Process. Reference: 2012 T305

Internal diameter: 18.7mm, Band Width: 6.2mm, Band Thickness: 1.4mm, Weight: 4.89gms.
