No ponto mais ocidental da Europa continental, o Cabo da Roca oferece uma vista panorâmica ímpar sobre a imensidão do Oceano Atlântico. O farol imponente, com a sua torre revestida de azulejos brancos e com um varandim vermelho, destaca-se por ser um dos mais antigos de Portugal. Nas imediações do farol, encontra-se uma emblemática cruz com uma homenagem a Luís de Camões: “Eis aqui, quási cume da cabeça, De Europa toda, o Reino Lusitano, Onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa, E onde Febo repousa no Oceano” (Os Lusíadas, Canto III, Luís de Camões). Foi esta condição de finisterra, de limite do mundo conhecido, que fez do Cabo da Roca um lugar sagrado e lendário, que continua a maravilhar quem o visita.
