Afrikaans: 'n Mannetjie van die Kortstertflap se nominaatsubspesie, afgeneem in broeidrag te ISimangaliso-vleilandpark naby St Lucia in KwaZoeloe-Natal. Die vlerk se swart (eerder as bleek oranje) groter dekvere is kenmerkend van die nominaatsubspesie.
English: A Fan-tailed widowbird male (nominate subspecies), photographed in breeding plumage at Eastern Shores, iSimangaliso Wetland Park, St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The wing's black (rather than beige-orange) greater coverts are characteristic of the nominate subspecies.
