as those we sawbefore at the Bay of Murderers in New Zealand. Onthe 29th we passed the Green Islands, and on the 30ththat of St. John, which were likewise discovered bySchovten and Le Maire. It appeared to themwell inhabited and well cultivated, abounding withflesh, fowl, fish, fruit, and other refreshments. Theinhabitants made use of canoes of all sizes, were armedwith shngs, darts, and wooden swords, wore necklacesand bracelets of pearl, and rings in their noses.
