Summary

[edit]
Description
English: How do computers remember pictures? They convert the pictures into numbers. The green rods in this gadget slide when it is pressed against a face or other object, creating an image on the other side. By measuring the distance that each rod sticks out, it's possible to represent the picture as a series of numbers. This is one of many hands-on educational activities offered at the "Discovery Days" in Lao schools and youth centers. Creative, hands-on educational opportunities are rare in Laos. Discovery Days are organized by Big Brother Mouse, a literacy project; they include number games, anatomy models, electronic experiments, and a solar telescope.
