Summary
[edit]DescriptionFabien 2023-05-14 0417Z.jpg | This True-Colour image of the late-season Moderate Tropical Storm Fabien over the open Indian Ocean was captured on 14 May 2023 at 04:17 UTC by the Ocean and Land Colour Instrument (OLCI) flying aboard the Sentinel-3A satellite launched by the European Space Agency. As Cyclone Mocha approached and ultimately made landfall in Myanmar on 14 May, Fabien was developing south of the equator, not too far south of Sri Lanka, the island on the upper left of the image. Fabien originated in the same monsoonal trough where Mocha developed from. Due to Mocha's influence, Fabien took longer to develop over the open waters of the Indian Ocean. Fabien does not pose any threat to any landmass, though, in the Meteo-France forecast, it is expected to intensify into an "Intense Tropical Cyclone" by Wednesday, 17 May 2023, over the high seas of the Indian Ocean. |
