[edit]DescriptionFR-1s bow CVE-115 1946.jpg | Three Ryan FR-1 Fireballs of fighter squadron VF-41 Firebirds on the bow of the escort carrier USS Bairoko (CVE-115) in during a deployment to the Western Pacific in 1946. Note the "G-symbol" identifying Bairoko´s planes, in this case a white tail with two yellow vertical stripes in front. As these geometric were hard to remember and describe they were replaced by letters in 7 November 1946. |
