Truman (CVN-75) on 3 January 2008. Truman and embarked Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3) were underway on a scheduled deployment to the Perian Gulf. The F/A-18E is armed with a JDAM bomb, a laser-guided bomb, and a AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air-missile. |

Truman and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3 are underway on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Maritime Security Operations (MSO). MSO help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment and complements the counter-terrorism and security efforts in regional nations' littoral waters. Coalition forces also conduct MSO under international maritime conventions to ensure security and safety in international waters so that commercial shipping and fishing can occur safely in the region.
