Description
English: U.S. Navy sailors observe flight operations on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) in front of an armed Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet of Strike Fighter Squadron 22 (VFA-22) "Fighting Redcocks". VFA-22 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17) aboard the Carl Vinson for a deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of responsibility supporting maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts, beginning 22 August 2014.
Note the mission markers on the Super Hornet.
