English: Extraction lane, Harehope Forest. A row of trees has been removed, could be thinning or preparation for felling. Sitka is usually clearfelled after 30 odd years without much thinning - the idea being to produce woodpulp before the wind damages the stand, and cutting the time per generation to a minimum. |
