Description A team of five Soldiers assigned to C Company, 2nd Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, hoist a fast rope on their shoulders before being “extracted” using the Special Purpose Insertion and Extraction System (SPIES) and Fast-Rope Insertion and Extraction System (FRIES) method. The fast-rope insertion and extraction system (FRIES) is employed by small units to make rapid infiltration and exfiltration using rotary-wing aircraft in confined areas.
