Description
English: Exposed gravel at low tide In the foreground are banks of gravel and sand, exposed by the low spring tide, off the eastern side of Calshot Spit at the mouth of Southampton Water. In the distance on the left are the buildings at the end of the spit (activities centre, Coastguard tower and Calshot Castle), a container ship about to enter the Solent and the BP oil terminal at Hamble-le-Rice.
