Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Exmoor Coastal View. The very steep slopes along the coast in Exmoor (and elsewhere in South-west England) are cliff lines which were 'active' before the last glacial period. As sea levels fell significantly as the ice built up (water goes into the ice and the oceans cool and shrink) erosion stopped at their base and weathering and erosion were strong in the tundra conditions southern Britain experienced (100000 to 12000 years ago) and so the slopes were reduced slightly and erosion by the sea has yet to 're-activate' the whole height of the cliff.
