Description
English: An RAF Junior Technician finishes refuelling a II(AC) Sqn Typhoon during Ex Saif Sareea 3.

Typhoons from II(AC) Squadron, RAF Lossiemouth, carried out sorties from Thumrait airbase in Oman. The Squadron had to familiarise themselves with the terrain and the procedures for operating out of the Royal Air Force of Oman’s airbase, prior to the intensive flying programme elements of exercise SAIF SAREEA 3.

The Squadron, were deployed to Oman as part of 140 Expeditionary Air Wing, and trained with, and against, the F-16 aircraft of RAFO’s 20 Squadron, improving interoperability between these two longstanding allies.

Exercise Saif Sareea 3 brought 5,500 UK armed forces (900 personnel from the RAF) together with over 60,000 Omani troops, utilising Air, Sea and Land assets in the Bilateral training exercise in the Omani Desert.
