Description
Nederlands: Litho van een terechtstelling in het Archief Gent (collectie Edouard de Keyser, inv. IC_EK_19_16). De prent van Kierdorff toont de laatste openbare terechtstelling op de Vrijdagmarkt in Gent op 25 januari 1822. De 24-jarige Livinus Van Butzel uit Etikhove bij Oudenaarde is schuldig bevonden aan vadermoord en ondergaat de typische straf: eerst wordt zijn hand afgehakt (de beul heft een hamer op, terwijl een knecht de hand van de veroordeelde klemt onder een hakmes), nadien wordt hij terdoodgebracht met de guillotine.
