"My next sketch pictures the usual evening amusements of the Land Transport Corps, Railway Department, &c., listening to the song so popular at Balaclava, entitled 'The Old Folks at Home'...the bystanders consisted of hamels, and navvies with beards, who would astonish their friends on their return home" (R.
