Summary
[edit]DescriptionEuropean mantis.jpg |
(Least Concern)".
English: European Mantis (Mantis religiosa), also known as praying mantis, is a species of insect from the Mantid family (Mantidae), widespread across almost the entire territory of Europe. The warm climate with a moderate winter is more favorable for the life of mantises, as evidenced by the specificity of their distribution: populations in the southern latitudes of Europe are larger in number compared to populations in northern regions. Thus, the likelihood of encountering the Praying Mantis near the Black Sea is much higher than the likelihood of encountering this species in the central or northern Europe. In some countries and their parts, Mantis religiosa is listed among regionally rare species, although the International Union for Conservation of Nature categorizes the Praying Mantis as "Least Concern." The photo was taken approximately 50 meters from the Black Sea shore near the village of Sychavka, Odesa region, Odesa oblast, Ukraine.istrict, Odesa region. |
