| Description |
English: Site of Etwall station, 1993. View southward from the A516 bridge, towards Egginton Junction, Burton-on-Trent, Uttoxeter and Stafford: ex-GNR Nottingham - Derby - Uttoxeter - Stafford line. Etwall station was closed to passengers when the regular services west of Derby ceased from 4/12/39, however excursiosn continued until 1964 and freight until 6/4/68. After that, until July 1990 [?], a single track was retained to Egginton Junction for tests run by the Derby Research Centre, which included those with the abortive Advanced Passenger Train: a remnant of the test track can be seen receding into the distance. |
