La escultura estuvo hasta 1897 en un jardín privado frente al Archivo de la Real Chancillería de Valladolid. Puede haber sido traída a Valladolid desde Italia a principios del siglo XVII, durante el período en el que el rey Felipe III estableció su residencia en la ciudad.
