É impossível não reparar que, nas enormes lajes de granito, situadas no centro da vila de Soajo, sobressaem os 24 espigueiros de granito, que são uma das maiores atrações turísticas desta área. A chamada Eira Comunitária do Soajo tem 24 espigueiros com vista para a serra e montes verdes. Apesar de serem de alturas diferentes, um dos mais antigos é datado de 1782. Desde 1983 que o conjunto de espigueiros do Soajo está classificado como Imóvel de Interesse Público pelo IGESPAR (Instituto de Gestão do Património Arquitectónico e Arqueológico). Para que eram usados os espigueiros e porquê esta configuração específica? Os espigueiros eram (e ainda são!) utilizados para secar o milho. São colocados em sítios estrategicamente mais altos para que os animais não comam o sustento das populações. Para afastar os roedores, que conseguiam trepar, instalaram de forma astuta umas rodas também de pedra. As paredes dos espigueiros têm pequenos rasgos para o ar circular entre as espigas, que vão ficando empilhadas no interior e, no cimo, têm uma pequena cruz que mostra a devoção das populações e o pedido de proteção divina para os seus cultivos.
