Català: Escut d'Ares del Maestrat (Alt Maestrat, País Valencià) tradicional, utilitzat per l'Ajuntament fins 2011: reprodueix fidelment el que es va representar en forma ovalada a la nova església decorada al voltant de 1740, i per tant porta uns adornaments exteriors en forma de cartel·la d’estil barroc-rococó (...) sobre un camp d’atzur (...) al cap la creu vermella de l’Orde de Montesa i de Sant Jordi, al centre a la mateixa alçada el castell (símbol de l’antic castell amb jurisdicció senyorial pròpia) i els quatre pals de la casa reial, i al peu l’emblema parlant dels dous bous junyits que llauren (= aren) a parell. Español: Escudo de Ares del Maestrat (Castellón, España) tradicional, usado por el Ayuntamiento hasta 2011: reproduce fielmente el que se representó de forma ovalada en la nueva iglesia decorada alrededor de 1740, y por tanto lleva unos adornos exteriores en forma de cartela de estilo barroco-rococó (...) sobre un campo de azur (..) en el jefe la cruz roja de la Orden de Montesa y de San jorge, en el centro y a la misma altura el castillo (símbolo del antiguo castillo con jurisdicción señorial propia) y los cuatro palos de la casa real, y en la punta el emblema parlante de los dos bueyes uncidos que labran (=aran) en pareja.
