Deutsch:
Erschröckliche Neiwe Zeittŭng von der Kaÿ. Reichstatt
Schreckliche Nachrichten von der kaiserlichen Reichsstadt Isny, im Oberland gelegen English: Horrifying news from the imperial city of Isny in Oberland: On 15 September 1631, a great fire happened in the imperial city of Isny. It started suddenly at noon between 11 and 12 o'clock, and by its flames the powder tower was exploded, which caused great harm. Soon afterwards, the pretty monastery with its Benedictine monks together with the churches of both religions were laid into ashes. The fire increased afterwards so that the citizens had to escape the city in misery and lament. Then the town hall and three towers broke down and up to 380 more houses burned down. Thus, in 12 hours the city except for a few houses was consumed by fire. Few people are missing: God Almighty saved them from the flames of the fire. May he assist the bereaved with help and solace, and may he in his charity keep us mercifully and fatherly from such horror and ruin. Amen. - The Lord has given, the Lord has taken, the Lord may give it again, the Lord's Name shall be praised in eternity. Job ch. 2. |

[edit]This image is in the public domain because it is a mere mechanical scan or photocopy of a public domain original, or – from the available evidence – is so similar to such a scan or photocopy that no copyright protection can be expected to arise. The original itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag. |
