Description
This is a photograph of a cultural monument.
It is on the list of cultural monuments of Erlenbach bei Dahn.

Designation: Monument zone Berwartstein Castle
Construction time: 12th century
Description: First mentioned in the 12th century, ruin since 1591, expanded in the late 19th century for residential purposes.

Upper castle partially carved out of the rock, about two storeys high Staufian, third floor with towers and balconies from the end of the 19th century.
The core of the lower castle is the medieval so-called great hall, remains of the ring wall and one of the four flanking towers are preserved.
Outer bailey late 15th century.
