English: Entrance to Brunel Quay at Neyland The attractive entrance to Brunel Quay and picnic area at Neyland. Brunel chose Neyland as the terminus for the South Wales Railway, with onward sea passage to Ireland and beyond. The railway officially opened in 1856, and 1858 saw the inauguration of a steamship route to Portugal and Brazil.
Fortunes changed in 1906, when the railway switched to Fishguard in the North of the county. for more information: http://www.pembrokeshire-wales.info/brunel2006/ |
