Español: El Centro Educativo Salesianos Alameda (Reconocido por la Ley N° 12446 del 19 de noviembre de 1957) es una de las instituciones educativas mas antiguas y tradicionales de Chile. La orden de los Salesianos toman posesión y fundan el llamado "Asilo de la Patria" el 14 de noviembre de 1891. El primer director fue el Padre Domingo Tomatis, al que acompañaban otros 9 salesianos.
El colegio fue inaugurado oficialmente el 6 de enero de 1892, con asistencia del Presidente de la República don Jorge Montt, el Obispo salesiano don Juan Cagliero, el Obispo de Ancud don Juan Lucero, y el Diputado Guillermo Cox Méndez. Se empezó con cuatro talleres: Herrería, Zapatería, Mueblería y Sastrería; en 1897 se añadió Imprenta y Encuadernación. Los primeros alumnos fueron 180 alumnos. Se ha destacado durante su larga historia por formar a personajes destacados dentro de la sociedad chilena, como lo son Senadores de la República, Diputados, grande empresarios, reconocidos artistas, entre otros. Uno de sus directores, el Cardenal Salesiano Raul Silva Henríquez, fue un gran defensor de los derechos humanos en los tiempos mal álgidos de la historia del país, como lo fue la dictadura gubernamental del General Augusto Pinochet Ugarte. |
