Description

Dad’s diary of August 2, 1937 tells of our trip from Santa Monica to Encinitas;

“Then we packed up our luggage, without ever going into Los Angeles proper. Down Through Long Beach, Laguna Beach and we cane at noon to Encinitas. Here we found the Beau Geste Motor Court and installed ourselves in a cottage. It was a wonderful drive down here today, most of it in sight of the Pacific Ocean.”

We traveled more than 10,000 miles in our 1937 Ford that summer.

(Scanned from a faded post card that I had saved.)

I wonder if the motel is still there?
