| Description |
English: Empty plinth, Durham Market Square The rather ugly statue of the Third Marquis of Londonderry, on horseback, that has been in the square since 1861, has been removed for cleaning - just the empty plinth remains.
There are plans to move the statue 26 metres across the square to open up the space to more benches and other artworks as part of the 'Durham City Vision; project, despite some 6,000 signatories on a local protest petition and 4,500 members of a facebook group against the idea |
