Opis vrste

D.t. 15-16,5 cm. Gnezdi se u većem delu južne i istočne Evrope, manjem delu centralne Evrope, u Maloj Aziji, na Kavkazu i u delu centralne Azije. Selica je. Zimu provodi u podsaharskoj Africi. Naseljava mozaična staništa u kojima se nalaze livade, stepe i pašnjaci sa živicama, šumarcima ili pojedinačnim drvećem i žbunjem, kao i mozaična poljoprivredna područja u ravnicama, pobrđu i na nižim planinama. Gnezda gradi blizu tla, sakrivena u žbunastoj vegetaciji. Hrani se semnjem biljaka, insektima i drugim beskičmenjacima. Populacija u Evropi naglo opada zbog nestanka staništa usled intenziviranja poljoprivrede. U Srbiji je redovna gnezdarica pobrđa u većem delu zemlje, čija se populacija procenjuje 6.000-8.000 gnezdećih parova (Puzović et al 2009).
