An estimate 300 elk were spotted grazing at Mormon Lake, July 27, 2016. Mormon Lake is known for fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities, including a variety of waterfowl, songbirds, bald eagles, elk, and pronghorn. Surrounded by ponderosa pine forest, this is the largest natural lake in Arizona. This shallow lake offers open water, wetlands, open meadow, and deep forest, making it an veritable Shangri-la for a wide variety of wildlife.
