| Description |
English: Electro-diesel locomotive at Bridgnorth These versatile locomotives were designed for the Southern Region of British Railways and introduced in the 1960's. They were able to operate on electric current drawn from the third rail, or from power provided by an on-board diesel engine when a 3rd rail power supply wasn't available. For many years locomotives of this type were used on Gatwick Express services from London Victoria. Now in preservation, this example is seen in the locomotive yard at Bridgnorth. |
