Thehigh-tension busbars, which are in duplicate, are hungdirectly from the roof, and a row of disconnectingswitches is mounted just below them, a switch as wellas a circuit-breaker being in each line on the line sideand on the transformer side. Salmon River Power Development—Plan of Power House Excitation for each generator is furnished by a sepa-rate directly connected shunt-wound exciter, each gen-erator requiring from 125 amp and 125 volts at no load,normal voltage, to 235 amp and 245 volts at 7500 kvaand 7500 volts. The exciter is adapted to voltage andpower-factor control by the Tirrill regulator. The main transformers are water-cooled, and each setof three is star-connected on the high-tension and delta-connected on the low-tension side. Like the generators,the transformers are designed for high efficiency atlight load, the full-load copper loss being 30.8 kw andthe core loss 16.7 kw. The specified regulation is 1.55per cent at full load and 100 per cent power factor, and4.15 per cent at 85 per cent power factor.
