The brackets vary in length from 12.5 ft.to 14.5 ft., and the trolley lias a minimum clearance of18 ft. above the rail. The poles are designed to carry afeeder cross-arm with four insulators and two cross-armsfor high-tension lines at the top, the lines being carriedin 36-in. equilateral triangular spaci-ng. The poles are setfrom 6.5 ft. deep in rock to 7 ft. in fills and cuts. On the 1274 ELECTRIC RAILWAY JOURNAL (Vol. XLII, No. 25. high-tension lines Locke No. 315 insulators and No. 84pins will be used. Berkshire Improvements—Reinforced Concrete TrestleTrack at East Lee, Mass. is carried on a wooden trestle supported on reinforced con-crete piers 13 ft. apart on centers, 20 ft. high, 3 ft. x 8 ft.at the top and 4 ft. 6 in. x 10 ft. 6 in. at the ground level.A bumping post and plank walk are provided at the tracklevel. The use of reinforced concrete increases the ca-pacity of the yard on account of the reduced space occu-pied by the piers. The trestle is designed to carry a 100,000-lb. capacity steel coal car at any portion of its length. OTHER EXTENSIONS The Canaan and Egremont extensions are not of unusualdesign, but represent a good standard of trolley line con-struction. They occupy private right-of-way so far aspracticable. The representative bridge illustrated hasthree spans of 168 ft. total length over the New York,New Haven & Hartford Railroad near Great Barrington.Mass. The central span is a pony riveted Pratt truss 100ft. long and the approach spans are of the deck pla
