"Teodolito de Gambey. A, círculo vertical graduado, móvil alrededor del eje horizontal, B;L, anteojo o alidada concéntrica que sirve para mirar la estrella cuya distancia zenital se quiere conocer, y que se lee en el círculo vertical H, círculo horizontal o azimutal graduado, en el cual se lee el ángulo trazado por el circulo vertical alrededor del eje C, cuando se han observado sucesivamente dos estrellas distintas; L, anteojo para mirar un punto remoto que sirve de referencia".
