Description
English: Dalt d’un turó a una alçada de 468 metres, al nord-oest del terme municipal, al peu d’un impressionant penya-segat sobre la riera de Marmellar, que feia de defensa natural, es troben les ruïnes més conegudes del municipi i unes de les més simbòliques del Penedès. Es tracta de les restes de l’antic castell alt medieval a l’extrem de la Marca del Penedès. Cal datar el conjunt defensiu de final de segle X inici de l’XI, amb lleugeres modificacions al segle XIII, abans de quedar posteriorment poc utilitzat, llevat per guardar estris de la capella i lloc d’aixopluc temporer de pastors, rodamóns i malfactors.
