Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Eglwys Dwynwen Sant Dedicated to Dwynwen, one of the 24 daughters of the 5th century St Brychan, and patron saint of lovers, whose feastday falls on 25 January, this ruined church dates from the early Tudor period. It is the latest of a succession of churches on the site. The medieval Welsh believed that lovers who visited St Dwynwen's shrine would be blessed with a happy marriage. Such were the numbers that came that Eglwys St Dwynwen was the biggest money spinner in the Bangor Diocese.
