Description This is a photograph of Edith (1861–1932) and James (1848–1937) Cowan. Edith Cowan was the first woman elected to any Australian parliament. James Cowan was registrar and master of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. The original photograph is a black and white photoprint 13 x 8 cm.
Date The original photograph was taken some time in the 1920s.
Source A digital image is available from the State Library of Western Australia through their online catalogue LISWA, here. The LISWA image includes an assertion of copyright 2001, but this assertion is incorrect. This image is a cropped version that eliminated the incorrect copyright assertion.
