Español: La Plaza de la Soledad en la ciudad de Badajoz, está rodeada por algunos edificios muy importantes para la ciudad, como la Ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad.
En el siglo XVI ya se halla en este espacio el Palacio de los Marqueses de la Lapilla, en el que se alojó Felipe II, para hacer valer sus derechos al trono de Portugal. En 1.660 se encarga la imagen de la Virgen de la Soledad a Nápoles, esta virgen se convirtió en la patrona de la ciudad. El origen de esta plaza viene de la plazuela la Soledad, que se encontraba frente a la primera ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad, edificada en el siglo XVII donde hoy se alza el edificio de la Giralda. Además, en La Plaza de la Soledad se encuentra la estatua del cantaor flamenco Porrina de Badajoz, que mira eternamente hacia la Ermita. |
